WORKSHOP "Gone With The Wind" - Nesin Art Village
15 July 2024 - 21 July 2024
General Information:
This workshop will be an experimental exploration of how we relate to the history and present of our geography. I hope each participant will create fragments of an archive using collage techniques and thinking practices that move from two dimensions to three.
What do the streets I wandered in my youth, the beaches I visited with my family during summer vacations but now filled with construction machines, tell me? What remains for us from nature shaped around profit, natural disasters, urban transformation, and profit-driven cities? How do we resist this change that we now watch without sadness and at worst, without surprise? Are we resisting? We will conduct a workshop together to read, think, dissect, paste, and sculpt around these topics.
Objective:
To document the lost or deteriorated cultural heritage of our geography. In doing so, we will follow an interdisciplinary approach, creating a semi-fictional memory archive with collage techniques involving writing, painting, printing, and photography. At the end of the workshop, we will produce a collective sculpture.
Prerequisite:
- Laptop
- Mobile phone (for taking photos)
- At least two photographs: an image of a cultural heritage site where the winds blow freely or a newspaper clipping, news article, or story related to it. Example: Photo of Narmanlı Han (old-new).
